FC Urartu vs Andranik - Cup

The history between FC Urartu and Andranik lends this Cup fixture an extra layer of spice, and when the two walk out at Urartu Stadium on April 29, 2026, recent encounters will be on everyone's mind. He is expected to miss the Community Shield game against Arsenal and the opening Premier League fixture of the season as a result.

Both FC Urartu and Andranik will be eager to build momentum when they meet in Cup. The hosts will be looking to find their rhythm and put a run of results together. The visitors will back themselves to cause problems and will not make the trip expecting an easy afternoon. The Saudi Pro League side have now placed a €45 million package on the table, while Watkins himself is understood to be open to making the move.

Stylistically, this is a compelling matchup. FC Urartu favour a patient, possession-based approach, whereas Andranik are at their most dangerous when allowed to hit quickly on the counter. Anderson can still play proactively from deep, but he will have other technical players around him to lighten the load in possession, and zones to hit rather than always playing to feet.

Neither side is short on individuals capable of tilting the balance, and the duel between the two squads' chief creators could prove particularly pivotal. Whoever wins the individual duel between the two sides' chief playmakers is likely to dictate the rhythm and, ultimately, the destination of the points. On his Arsenal debut against Girona, Tzolis strode forward with confidence at his defender, cut inside defiantly and slotted an effort into the bottom corner, via a slight deflection.

Without the market to lean on, the contest feels genuinely open — and the outcome may come down to which side handles the occasion better. With the sides so closely matched, a 1-1 stalemate looks the most likely way this one ends. The result at Urartu Stadium could resonate well beyond matchday in the Cup picture. A more central role appears likely given the sale of Youri Tielemans to Manchester United and the anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered by Amadou Onana at the World Cup.
