Werder Bremen U19 vs Hoffenheim U19 - DFB Junioren Pokal

The DFB Junioren Pokal returns to the home ground on August 30, 2026, where Werder Bremen U19 and Hoffenheim U19 will lock horns in a contest that could shape their respective campaigns. The sheer joy on the 18-year-old defender’s face resonated with Paul Schaffran back at the academy.

Both camps will view the DFB Junioren Pokal meeting at the home ground as an opportunity to put a marker down, regardless of where they currently stand. The hosts will be looking to find their rhythm and put a run of results together. The visitors will travel in the hope that a change of scene can spark a turnaround, whatever the form book says. Those who followed Morocco's recent World Cup campaign will recognise the name Ayyoub Bouaddi.

Wing play is likely to be central to the contest. Werder Bremen U19 will look to stretch the pitch and isolate their wide attackers, while Hoffenheim U19 must find a way to compress the space and choke the supply lines. Speaking in his unveiling press conference on Thursday, he said: Bayern Munich had attempted to sign Benjamin Sesko ahead of Manchester United, but a deal proved too expensive, according to cfbayerninsider.

The fixture is likely to be shaped by its key performers, with creative midfielders and clinical finishers on both sides capable of turning the game in an instant. The battle in midfield, where both sides look to control tempo, could prove the decisive arena. Tottenham have made contact over a sensational move for Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo as Roberto De Zerbi continues his ambitious summer rebuild.

Without the market to lean on, the contest feels genuinely open — and the outcome may come down to which side handles the occasion better. The signals point towards a stalemate, with the two sides closely matched across form and standings. A 1-1 draw is easy to envisage. With positions in the DFB Junioren Pokal table to defend and momentum to chase, neither side can afford to leave anything in the tank. Important qualities given that Bournemouth will expect him to be proactive.
