Struga vs Aresimi - Friendlies Clubs

Few would have predicted the narrative arc that brings Struga and Aresimi together at the home ground on July 8, 2026, and the underdog storyline only adds to the Friendlies Clubs occasion. Michael Carrick's side are set to face Paris Saint-Germain in Sweden on Saturday afternoon with the aim of building on last weekend's win over Atletico Madrid.

Form and standings can only tell part of the story when Struga and Aresimi cross paths in the Friendlies Clubs, and pride alone should guarantee a contest. The hosts will be looking to find their rhythm and put a run of results together. Aresimi's away form is hard to read, but they will arrive with the belief that they can trouble their hosts. Newcastle had agreed a deal worth £49m for the Switzerland international, who was a breakout star at the World Cup as he scored three goals in their run to the quarter-finals.

Tactically, the contest promises a fascinating contrast. Struga will look to impose their style on home soil, while Aresimi are likely to have ideas of their own about how to gain the upper hand. After the loss, a lot of questions began to be raised about their different approach to preparing for the game.

The fixture is likely to be shaped by its key performers, with creative midfielders and clinical finishers on both sides capable of turning the game in an instant. Set-piece specialists and aerial threats on both sides mean dead-ball situations could carry outsized importance. Ramos did eventually score the breakthrough goal midway through the second half but that was one of eight attempts at goal by the Portuguese forward - and there were no fewer than four big chances missed.

The market has yet to form a strong view, and the contest looks genuinely difficult to call. Expect a tight, competitive affair that could easily end all square at 1-1. The ramifications of this result could ripple through the Friendlies Clubs standings for weeks to come, regardless of who comes out on top. All I ever wanted to do was win a championship for the New York Giants.” Beckham Jr is likely to play in the Giants’ first preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings at MetLife Stadium next weekend.
