Sousa vs Botafogo PB - Copa do Nordeste

All eyes turn to the home ground on April 8, 2026 as Sousa welcome Botafogo PB in a Copa do Nordeste encounter that promises tension, intrigue and no shortage of subplot. The defender has entered the third year of his scholarship agreement, and United have hoped to tie Kukonki down to a professional contract, which was initially agreed last year.

Both Sousa and Botafogo PB will be eager to build momentum when they meet in Copa do Nordeste. The hosts will be looking to find their rhythm and put a run of results together. The visitors will back themselves to cause problems and will not make the trip expecting an easy afternoon. Dusan Vlahovic followed up his hat-trick on Monday by completing the comeback to leave Fenerbahce four points behind Galatasaray, who snatched a late winner at Basaksehir on Friday.

The tactical battle could prove decisive. Sousa may lean on their home advantage to dictate the tempo, but Botafogo PB have shown they can be dangerous when allowed to play on their own terms. That radar allows City to retain control, momentum and possession in games, pinning opponents back in the tempered style Guardiola favoured.

Star players on both sides will be eager to make their mark, and the individual duels across the pitch could go a long way to deciding the outcome. How each side deals with the other's danger men — and who takes their chances when they come — will be central to the outcome. The biggest move of the window will be the increasingly likely departure of Rodri, assuming Barcelona are able to match the asking price for the midfielder who wants to move to the La Liga giants.

The fixture has the feel of a coin-flip, and picking a winner with any conviction would require a braver pundit than most. The signals point towards a stalemate, with the two sides closely matched across form and standings. A 1-1 draw is easy to envisage. The result at the home ground could resonate well beyond matchday in the Copa do Nordeste picture. Fulham's Antonee Robinson could be one of those, who would likely be a cheaper alternative to Hall, who has just enjoyed a breakout season with the Magpies.
