Sochaux vs Dijon - Friendlies Clubs

The Friendlies Clubs returns to the home ground on July 25, 2026, where Sochaux and Dijon will lock horns in a contest that could shape their respective campaigns. The sheer joy on the 18-year-old defender’s face resonated with Paul Schaffran back at the academy.

Both camps will view the Friendlies Clubs meeting at the home ground as an opportunity to put a marker down, regardless of where they currently stand. Sochaux will be keen to seize the initiative and build some momentum on home soil. The visitors will back themselves to cause problems and will not make the trip expecting an easy afternoon. But Fuseini's equaliser leaves Burnley winless and bottom of the Championship, having failed to gain three points from a match Hayen had described beforehand as "must-win".

Tactically, the contest promises a fascinating contrast. Sochaux will look to impose their style on home soil, while Dijon are likely to have ideas of their own about how to gain the upper hand. Moving the Dane on frees up space and gives the Partenopei greater room to press ahead with their incoming transfer plans.

Neither side is short on individuals capable of tilting the balance, and the duel between the two squads' chief creators could prove particularly pivotal. The wide areas will be a key battleground, with full-backs and wingers on either side capable of swinging the contest one way or the other. United's talented defender Godwill Kukonki is back in training and is not set to leave the club on a permanent transfer in the summer window.

The fixture has the feel of a coin-flip, and picking a winner with any conviction would require a braver pundit than most. Expect a tight, competitive affair that could easily end all square at 1-1. The result at the home ground could resonate well beyond matchday in the Friendlies Clubs picture. Joe Gomez is expected to miss the start of Liverpool's Premier League campaign through injury - but it is not likely to impact the Reds' transfer plans.
