Quindio vs Real Santander - Primera B

A fascinating Primera B chapter awaits on September 5, 2026 when Quindio take on Real Santander at the home ground — two sides with plenty to play for and everything to prove. That coronation came from City's £116m summer signing Elliot Anderson - and has been hotly debated in the build-up to the Manchester derby Super Sunday showdown at Old Trafford, which you can watch live on Sky Sports.

Both Quindio and Real Santander will be eager to build momentum when they meet in Primera B. Patchy would be the kindest description of Quindio's recent run: LDDWW in their last five, a season win rate of 25%. Real Santander have found wins elusive, LLLLL in their last five underscoring a win rate of 6.67%. One side has leaned on a miserly defence, the other on a free-scoring attack, and the meeting of those contrasting strengths promises an intriguing tactical subtext. Ipswich would be open to permanent offers for the winger, who has three years to run on his contract.

The tactical subplot is compelling: Quindio favour a possession-based game built on patience and control, while Real Santander are happiest sitting deep and exploding forward on the counter — a classic contrast of philosophies. Andoni Iraola could not have been clearer about how he plans to change Liverpool when speaking in his opening press conference.

The fixture boasts genuine star quality. With F. Montero topping the Primera B scoring charts at 3 goals, the stage is set for the kind of individual brilliance that can swing a contest. The battle in midfield, where both sides look to control tempo, could prove the decisive arena. There is a strong interest in Alex Scott but Bournemouth are sticking to their guns over the midfielder.

With the sides closely matched, the outcome may well hinge on which team takes its chances on the day. Neither side holds a clear edge, and a 1-1 draw would be a fitting reflection of the balance between them. The ramifications of this result could ripple through the Primera B standings for weeks to come, regardless of who comes out on top. Premier League chief executive Richard Masters says a verdict on the alleged charges against Manchester City "has taken longer than expected".
