Păuleşti vs Blejoi - Cupa României

Păuleşti prepare to host Blejoi at the home ground on July 29, 2026, with both sides eager to assert their credentials and claim a result that could define their Cupa României season. Manchester United play in Gothenburg on Saturday as they take on Paris-Saint Germain in their fourth pre-season fixture.

Both Păuleşti and Blejoi will be eager to build momentum when they meet in Cupa României. Păuleşti's recent form is difficult to quantify, but the occasion itself should bring the best out of them. The visitors will travel in the hope that a change of scene can spark a turnaround, whatever the form book says. The Ghana winger, signed on loan from Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise on transfer deadline day, drilled in an angled shot on the run, via the inside of the far post, for his first Derby goal.

Tactically, the contest promises a fascinating contrast. Păuleşti will look to impose their style on home soil, while Blejoi are likely to have ideas of their own about how to gain the upper hand. That allows him to sweep up possession without necessarily needing to tackle; rather, he pressures and intercepts.

The fixture features no shortage of talent, and the league's top marksman Andrei Trandafir — 2 goals this term — will be one to watch. The wide areas will be a key battleground, with full-backs and wingers on either side capable of swinging the contest one way or the other. Sangare is more of a defensive midfielder who can recycle and build play from deep.

The fixture has the feel of a coin-flip, and picking a winner with any conviction would require a braver pundit than most. The signals point towards a stalemate, with the two sides closely matched across form and standings. A 1-1 draw is easy to envisage. The result at the home ground could resonate well beyond matchday in the Cupa României picture. The Spaniard heading to Barca all but rules out a midfield departure from the Bernabeu and thus United will likely have to look elsewhere.
