Palermo vs Mantova - Coppa Italia

The history between Palermo and Mantova lends this Coppa Italia fixture an extra layer of spice, and when the two walk out at Stadio Danilo Martelli on September 3, 2026, recent encounters will be on everyone's mind. Make it easier than ever to turn a regular fixture into something genuinely unforgettable.

The two sides arrive with plenty to prove, and the Coppa Italia contest at Stadio Danilo Martelli offers a chance to lay down a marker. The hosts will hope that the Stadio Danilo Martelli crowd can inspire a performance, whatever the numbers suggest. Mantova will travel with intent, knowing that a positive result here could kick-start their campaign. During his 22 matches in charge, Oxford actually ranked as high as 14th in the table.

Wing play is likely to be central to the contest. Palermo will look to stretch the pitch and isolate their wide attackers, while Mantova must find a way to compress the space and choke the supply lines. But it was a dual role for Rayo because he was also among the top dozen players for blocking crosses and winning possession in the defensive third.

Individual quality could tip the balance. The league's leading scorer J. Pohjanpalo, with 3 goals to his name this season, is a reminder of the firepower on display. How each side deals with the other's danger men — and who takes their chances when they come — will be central to the outcome. Milan join Napoli and Bournemouth in race for Rennes striker Embolo.

Predicting an outright winner is no easy task given how little separates the two sides on paper. A share of the spoils looks the most probable outcome, with neither side holding a decisive edge — a 1-1 draw feels like a fitting result. More than just three points is on the line at Stadio Danilo Martelli — this is a fixture that could shape the narrative of both clubs' seasons. A more central role appears likely given the sale of Youri Tielemans to Manchester United and the anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered by Amadou Onana at the World Cup.
