Ohrid vs Novaci - Friendlies Clubs

A fascinating Friendlies Clubs chapter awaits on July 18, 2026 when Ohrid take on Novaci at the home ground — two sides with plenty to play for and everything to prove. The left-back was taken off in the final minutes against Everton with cramp, and was not risked for the Champions League clash vs Sabah on Thursday.

Both Ohrid and Novaci will be eager to build momentum when they meet in Friendlies Clubs. Ohrid will be keen to seize the initiative and build some momentum on home soil. Novaci's away form is hard to read, but they will arrive with the belief that they can trouble their hosts. It remains to be seen if Leeds will target a No 10 or a winger capable of playing inside now that Brandt is off the table.

Stylistically, this is a compelling matchup. Ohrid favour a patient, possession-based approach, whereas Novaci are at their most dangerous when allowed to hit quickly on the counter. Their press is quick and co-ordinated in some areas of the pitch and not others.

Neither side is short on individuals capable of tilting the balance, and the duel between the two squads' chief creators could prove particularly pivotal. How each side deals with the other's danger men — and who takes their chances when they come — will be central to the outcome. Michael Carrick wants a younger defender who can eventually succeed Luke Shaw, whose fitness record makes it difficult to rely on him throughout a demanding campaign.

Predictions are tricky when the sides are this evenly matched, and small margins — a moment of quality, a slice of luck — could decide it either way. Neither side holds a clear edge, and a 1-1 draw would be a fitting reflection of the balance between them. The result at the home ground could resonate well beyond matchday in the Friendlies Clubs picture. The team currently most likely to win the 2026 WNBA Finals according to Opta.
