Newmarket vs Gorleston - FA Trophy

The FA Trophy returns to the home ground on September 12, 2026, where Newmarket and Gorleston will lock horns in a contest that could shape their respective campaigns. He is said to have been described as 'highly compatible with United’s press-heavy, fast-transition system.' United and Arsenal are set to face competition from AC Milan and FC Porto.

Newmarket head into the contest positioned 8th in the FA Trophy standings, while Gorleston arrive sitting 67th. The hosts will be looking to find their rhythm and put a run of results together. Gorleston will travel with intent, knowing that a positive result here could kick-start their campaign. Paulo Fonseca's men are still smarting from their Champions League play-off exit but now sit third in the table.

How the two sides approach the contest strategically will be key. Newmarket will want to control proceedings in front of their own supporters, while Gorleston will back themselves to cause problems on the break. Speaking in his unveiling press conference on Thursday, he said: Bayern Munich had attempted to sign Benjamin Sesko ahead of Manchester United, but a deal proved too expensive, according to cfbayerninsider.

Star players on both sides will be eager to make their mark, and the individual duels across the pitch could go a long way to deciding the outcome. Whoever wins the individual duel between the two sides' chief playmakers is likely to dictate the rhythm and, ultimately, the destination of the points. Stuttering starts, goals in every match and plenty of excitement - the Scottish Premiership returned with a bang and there is more to look forward to this weekend.

Predicting an outright winner is no easy task given how little separates the two sides on paper. Backed by home advantage and superior form, Newmarket ought to prevail — a 2-1 victory looks the logical call. With positions in the FA Trophy table to defend and momentum to chase, neither side can afford to leave anything in the tank. Fulham's Antonee Robinson could be one of those, who would likely be a cheaper alternative to Hall, who has just enjoyed a breakout season with the Magpies.
