Nevėžis vs Dainava - Cup

A fascinating Cup chapter awaits on April 10, 2026 when Nevėžis take on Dainava at the home ground — two sides with plenty to play for and everything to prove. He is expected to miss the Community Shield game against Arsenal and the opening Premier League fixture of the season as a result.

Both Nevėžis and Dainava will be eager to build momentum when they meet in Cup. Nevėžis's recent form is difficult to quantify, but the occasion itself should bring the best out of them. The visitors will back themselves to cause problems and will not make the trip expecting an easy afternoon. Teams are more likely to allow a defender to bring the ball up the pitch than a winger playing in a far more advanced position.

The tactical battle could prove decisive. Nevėžis may lean on their home advantage to dictate the tempo, but Dainava have shown they can be dangerous when allowed to play on their own terms. Schalke were third bottom for possession in winning the second tier, let alone facing Bayern.

Neither side is short on individuals capable of tilting the balance, and the duel between the two squads' chief creators could prove particularly pivotal. The battle in midfield, where both sides look to control tempo, could prove the decisive arena. Iraola is on record as an admirer of the former Borussia Dortmund coach who honed his ideas in the Red Bull school where looking forward and pressing high up the pitch are viewed as non-negotiables.

With the sides closely matched, the outcome may well hinge on which team takes its chances on the day. A share of the spoils looks the most probable outcome, with neither side holding a decisive edge — a 1-1 draw feels like a fitting result. More than just three points is on the line at the home ground — this is a fixture that could shape the narrative of both clubs' seasons. England captain Harry Kane is likely to sign a new deal to extend his stay at Bayern Munich despite interest from Barcelona.
