Marítimo W vs SL Benfica W - 1a Divisão - Women

The 1a Divisão - Women returns to the home ground on October 18, 2026, where Marítimo W and SL Benfica W will lock horns in a contest that could shape their respective campaigns. Why Manchester United face transfer dilemma with unexpected star of pre-season.

There is little to choose between Marítimo W and SL Benfica W on paper, and the 1a Divisão - Women encounter should reflect that balance. The hosts will be looking to find their rhythm and put a run of results together. SL Benfica W will travel with intent, knowing that a positive result here could kick-start their campaign. It is early days in those competitions but Europe's tightest table is undoubtedly in Norway where Viking and Bodo/Glimt are locked on 53 points after 22 games each.

How the two sides approach the contest strategically will be key. Marítimo W will want to control proceedings in front of their own supporters, while SL Benfica W will back themselves to cause problems on the break. His passing display at the World Cup was yet more evidence of his suitability for City and the possession-heavy style Maresca favours.

Star players on both sides will be eager to make their mark, and the individual duels across the pitch could go a long way to deciding the outcome. The battle in midfield, where both sides look to control tempo, could prove the decisive arena. Juventus are pushing ahead with negotiations for another versatile forward, with Manchester United now reportedly willing to discuss a temporary departure for Joshua Zirkzee.

Predictions are tricky when the sides are this evenly matched, and small margins — a moment of quality, a slice of luck — could decide it either way. With the sides so closely matched, a 1-1 stalemate looks the most likely way this one ends. The ramifications of this result could ripple through the 1a Divisão - Women standings for weeks to come, regardless of who comes out on top. Important qualities given that Bournemouth will expect him to be proactive.
