National 3 - Group E
Team Comparison
Lille II
Balagne
Match Preview
The National 3 - Group E returns to the home ground on May 16, 2026, where Lille II and Balagne will lock horns in a contest that could shape their respective campaigns. Chelsea take on Serie A giants Juventus in Hong Kong this morning in the latest fixture on their pre-season tour of Asia.
Both camps will view the National 3 - Group E meeting at the home ground as an opportunity to put a marker down, regardless of where they currently stand. Lille II will be keen to seize the initiative and build some momentum on home soil. The visitors will back themselves to cause problems and will not make the trip expecting an easy afternoon. In what is arguably the most pointed contrast to Chelsea's recruitment strategy of recent years, Andrich was almost 25 years old when he made his Bundesliga debut for Union Berlin.
Stylistically, this is a compelling matchup. Lille II favour a patient, possession-based approach, whereas Balagne are at their most dangerous when allowed to hit quickly on the counter. And there are still question marks even in attack, where they have an abundance of supporting forwards including Mbeumo, Cunha and Amad Diallo, but only one out-and-out striker in Sesko.
Game-changers are scattered across both line-ups, and the contest may well be decided by which side's match-winners deliver on the day. The wide areas will be a key battleground, with full-backs and wingers on either side capable of swinging the contest one way or the other. Left-back is not a priority area to strengthen but with Luke Shaw as the only natural fit, especially as Michael Carrick prefers Patrick Dorgu further forward, it could soon become as such.
The market has yet to form a strong view, and the contest looks genuinely difficult to call. With the sides so closely matched, a 1-1 stalemate looks the most likely way this one ends. With the standings tight and form on the line, this is a fixture neither side will want to lose.
