Kose vs Tartu Welco - Cup

The Cup returns to the home ground on August 12, 2026, where Kose and Tartu Welco will lock horns in a contest that could shape their respective campaigns. Chelsea vs Tottenham: Line-ups confirmed for pre-season clash in Sydney.

There is little to choose between Kose and Tartu Welco on paper, and the Cup encounter should reflect that balance. Kose will be keen to seize the initiative and build some momentum on home soil. Tartu Welco's away form is hard to read, but they will arrive with the belief that they can trouble their hosts. If the recent winter window is anything to go off, meanwhile, United are once again unlikely to spend big for reinforcement half-way through the season.

How the two sides approach the contest strategically will be key. Kose will want to control proceedings in front of their own supporters, while Tartu Welco will back themselves to cause problems on the break. His passing display at the World Cup was yet more evidence of his suitability for City and the possession-heavy style Maresca favours.

Star players on both sides will be eager to make their mark, and the individual duels across the pitch could go a long way to deciding the outcome. Discipline at the back and sharpness in front of goal will likely tilt the balance one way or the other. Elsewhere in Ligue 1, on-loan Southampton striker Cameron Archer scored on his debut for Auxerre but could not stop Lyon running out 3-1 winners.

With the sides closely matched, the outcome may well hinge on which team takes its chances on the day. With the sides so closely matched, a 1-1 stalemate looks the most likely way this one ends. The result at the home ground could resonate well beyond matchday in the Cup picture. The 22-year-old was likely quite high up on the list of United's midfield targets and potentially even higher after Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga blows.
