Hollandia vs Halsteren - KNVB Beker

A fascinating KNVB Beker chapter awaits on September 2, 2026 when Hollandia take on Halsteren at the home ground — two sides with plenty to play for and everything to prove. The 74-year-old Hoops boss admitted that "it'll be a bit strange not having the (Celtic) fans in but I'm nervously and excitedly looking forward to it; it's a great fixture" and also spoke about the police visit.

The standings add context to the occasion — Hollandia occupying 33rd, Halsteren perched in 30th — and the gap between them shapes the narrative. The hosts will be looking to find their rhythm and put a run of results together. The visitors will travel in the hope that a change of scene can spark a turnaround, whatever the form book says. If he finds a way of those three players gelling and playing together - making one of them run in beyond - then Chelsea will have a very good season.

The touchline duel between the two managers adds another layer of intrigue, with both likely to tweak their setups in search of a decisive edge. A month before his death, he was also arrested in Arkansas on charges including possession of a controlled substance.

Individual quality could tip the balance. The league's leading scorer Jesper Middelkamp, with 1 goals to his name this season, is a reminder of the firepower on display. Set-piece specialists and aerial threats on both sides mean dead-ball situations could carry outsized importance. Hjulmand has time to set himself and with Heaton beaten, the midfielder's shot crashes off the post and away.

With the sides closely matched, the outcome may well hinge on which team takes its chances on the day. Despite the home advantage enjoyed by Hollandia, the weight of evidence favours Halsteren — a 1-2 away win is the call. Whatever the outcome, the KNVB Beker fixture promises a meaningful contest with real implications for both clubs. Harry Kane is the favourite to win the Ballon d’Or.
