Hercules vs EVV - KNVB Beker

The KNVB Beker returns to the home ground on September 2, 2026, where Hercules and EVV will lock horns in a contest that could shape their respective campaigns. O'Neill made five changes for Celtic's midweek win at St Johnstone as he rested some key players ahead of Sunday's clash.

The standings paint a clear picture: Hercules in 51st, EVV in 14th, and both keen to climb. The hosts will hope that the the home ground crowd can inspire a performance, whatever the numbers suggest. EVV's away form is hard to read, but they will arrive with the belief that they can trouble their hosts. If you're Arsenal and wanting to win the Premier League, and you take six points off those teams, then you're near-on winning the Premier League.

Set-piece efficiency could prove the difference on the night. Both Hercules and EVV have invested time in dead-ball situations this season, and a single corner or free-kick may settle it. Rico Lewis played at right-back, but when City were in possession he tucked infield and supported the midfield pairing of Mateo Kovacic and Reijnders.

Individual quality could tip the balance. The league's leading scorer Jesper Middelkamp, with 1 goals to his name this season, is a reminder of the firepower on display. Discipline at the back and sharpness in front of goal will likely tilt the balance one way or the other. The Premier League champions have been looking for a new defender with William Saliba out for an extended period of time and Jurrien Timber also sidelined with a long-term groin problem.

With the sides closely matched, the outcome may well hinge on which team takes its chances on the day. The numbers tilt towards EVV, and a 1-2 away win looks the more probable outcome. The result at the home ground could resonate well beyond matchday in the KNVB Beker picture.
