Hartai vs Bicskei - Magyar Kupa

Few would have predicted the narrative arc that brings Hartai and Bicskei together at the home ground on September 12, 2026, and the underdog storyline only adds to the Magyar Kupa occasion. Hartai head into the contest positioned 33rd in the Magyar Kupa standings, while Bicskei arrive sitting 22nd. Hartai's recent form is difficult to quantify, but the occasion itself should bring the best out of them. The visitors will back themselves to cause problems and will not make the trip expecting an easy afternoon. Phil Foden was handed a free role in the No 10 position behind striker Muamba, who scored in consecutive pre-season games.

Tactically, the contest promises a fascinating contrast. Hartai will look to impose their style on home soil, while Bicskei are likely to have ideas of their own about how to gain the upper hand. That radar allows City to retain control, momentum and possession in games, pinning opponents back in the tempered style Guardiola favoured.

Neither side is short on individuals capable of tilting the balance, and the duel between the two squads' chief creators could prove particularly pivotal. Discipline at the back and sharpness in front of goal will likely tilt the balance one way or the other. The club will have to look elsewhere for a new midfielder.

With the sides closely matched, the outcome may well hinge on which team takes its chances on the day. Bicskei look well-equipped to take the points on the road, with a 1-2 victory well within their reach. With positions in the Magyar Kupa table to defend and momentum to chase, neither side can afford to leave anything in the tank. In terms of outgoings, Perri seems closest to an exit, but that will likely have to wait until Trafford's mandated holiday after the World Cup is over or a No 2 arrives.
