Guarany de Bagé vs Santa Catarina - Serie D

A fascinating Serie D chapter awaits on May 10, 2026 when Guarany de Bagé take on Santa Catarina at the home ground — two sides with plenty to play for and everything to prove. Enzo Maresca and Rico Lewis held a pre-match press conference on Saturday as Manchester City prepare to face Atletico Madrid in their third pre-season friendly of the summer.

The standings add context to the occasion — Guarany de Bagé occupying 6th, Santa Catarina perched in 1st — and the gap between them shapes the narrative. The hosts have found wins hard to come by, LLLLW across their last five telling the story of a win rate of 10%. The visitors have been a force on their travels, WWWWL in their last five and a campaign win rate of 60% that demands respect. The contrast in attacking output — 0.2 versus 1.5 goals per game — adds an extra layer of intrigue. Central midfield remains a position Leeds are keen to add in despite so far failing to reach an agreement with Southampton for Shea Charles.

Wing play is likely to be central to the contest. Guarany de Bagé will look to stretch the pitch and isolate their wide attackers, while Santa Catarina must find a way to compress the space and choke the supply lines. Individual quality could tip the balance. The league's leading scorer Michel Douglas, with 7 goals to his name this season, is a reminder of the firepower on display. Whoever wins the individual duel between the two sides' chief playmakers is likely to dictate the rhythm and, ultimately, the destination of the points. He would keep it close until the defender had a nibble and then shift it," says Carr.

Without the market to lean on, the contest feels genuinely open — and the outcome may come down to which side handles the occasion better. On balance, Santa Catarina may just have enough to take all three points. A 0-2 away win would not be a shock. With the standings tight and form on the line, this is a fixture neither side will want to lose. All I ever wanted to do was win a championship for the New York Giants.” Beckham Jr is likely to play in the Giants’ first preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings at MetLife Stadium next weekend.
