Grasshopper II vs Buochs - 1. Liga Classic - Group 2

The 1. Liga Classic - Group 2 returns to the home ground on September 19, 2026, where Grasshopper II and Buochs will lock horns in a contest that could shape their respective campaigns. Mason Mount has been outstanding for Man Utd in pre-season but he could still face fierce competition for a place in Michael Carrick's side next season.

The standings paint a clear picture: Grasshopper II in 7th, Buochs in 6th, and both keen to climb. It has been a solid if unspectacular run for the hosts — W across their last five with a win rate of 50% — and they will want to push on from here. Buochs have travelled reasonably well, W over their last five with a season win rate of 50%. Where Grasshopper II have leaned on defensive discipline, Buochs have often taken the initiative going forward, and that stylistic difference should shape the contest. Newcastle had agreed a deal worth £49m for the Switzerland international, who was a breakout star at the World Cup as he scored three goals in their run to the quarter-finals.

The tactical battle could prove decisive. Grasshopper II may lean on their home advantage to dictate the tempo, but Buochs have shown they can be dangerous when allowed to play on their own terms. Amad won possession in the PSG half before laying the ball off for Bryan Mbeumo to score.

Neither side is short on individuals capable of tilting the balance, and the duel between the two squads' chief creators could prove particularly pivotal. Whoever wins the individual duel between the two sides' chief playmakers is likely to dictate the rhythm and, ultimately, the destination of the points. Al Hilal are in talks with Aston Villa over a deal to sign striker Ollie Watkins, who is keen on the move.

Without the market to lean on, the contest feels genuinely open — and the outcome may come down to which side handles the occasion better. Buochs look well-equipped to take the points on the road, with a 2-3 victory well within their reach. The result at the home ground could resonate well beyond matchday in the 1. Liga Classic - Group 2 picture. All I ever wanted to do was win a championship for the New York Giants.” Beckham Jr is likely to play in the Giants’ first preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings at MetLife Stadium next weekend.
