Girona vs Castellón - Friendlies Clubs

When Girona and Castellón clash at the home ground on July 29, 2026, the stakes extend well beyond a single result — this is a Friendlies Clubs fixture that carries real weight for both clubs. He experienced victory in his only Old Firm appearance as a Gers player, but Sunday will be his first taste of the fixture in the dugout.

Both Girona and Castellón will be eager to build momentum when they meet in Friendlies Clubs. Girona will be keen to seize the initiative and build some momentum on home soil. Castellón's away form is hard to read, but they will arrive with the belief that they can trouble their hosts. But Fuseini's equaliser leaves Burnley winless and bottom of the Championship, having failed to gain three points from a match Hayen had described beforehand as "must-win".

The touchline duel between the two managers adds another layer of intrigue, with both likely to tweak their setups in search of a decisive edge. In his press conference on Friday, Tuchel admitted it 'hurt him' not to play the United man in America.

Individual moments of quality could tip the balance. Both sides possess players capable of producing something out of nothing, and a single flash of brilliance may be all that separates them. How each side deals with the other's danger men — and who takes their chances when they come — will be central to the outcome. Milan join Napoli and Bournemouth in race for Rennes striker Embolo.

With the sides closely matched, the outcome may well hinge on which team takes its chances on the day. The signals point towards a stalemate, with the two sides closely matched across form and standings. A 1-1 draw is easy to envisage. The result at the home ground could resonate well beyond matchday in the Friendlies Clubs picture. The 22-year-old was likely quite high up on the list of United's midfield targets and potentially even higher after Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga blows.
