Figueirense vs Volta Redonda - Serie C

The Serie C returns to the home ground on July 13, 2026, where Figueirense and Volta Redonda will lock horns in a contest that could shape their respective campaigns. Mason Mount has been outstanding for Man Utd in pre-season but he could still face fierce competition for a place in Michael Carrick's side next season.

Figueirense head into the contest positioned 11th in the Serie C standings, while Volta Redonda arrive sitting 16th. The hosts have mirrored the form of a side still searching for rhythm — WDWDW over their last five, a win rate of 36.84%. Volta Redonda have struggled to string results together away from home, LLWLL over their last five with a win rate of 31.58%. The contrast in attacking output — 1 versus 0.68 goals per game — adds an extra layer of intrigue. The player had scored the equaliser away to Lyon before winning the penalty that secured the three points.

The tactical subplot is compelling: Figueirense favour a possession-based game built on patience and control, while Volta Redonda are happiest sitting deep and exploding forward on the counter — a classic contrast of philosophies. With N. Schiappacasse leading the league's scoring charts at 3 goals, the contest is unlikely to be short of attacking intent. Whoever wins the individual duel between the two sides' chief playmakers is likely to dictate the rhythm and, ultimately, the destination of the points. Arsenal have signed midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle in a £75m transfer.

With the sides closely matched, the outcome may well hinge on which team takes its chances on the day. On balance, Figueirense look well-placed to claim all three points, and a 2-1 home win would not come as a surprise. The result at the home ground could resonate well beyond matchday in the Serie C picture. A more central role appears likely given the sale of Youri Tielemans to Manchester United and the anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered by Amadou Onana at the World Cup.
