FC Midtjylland vs Silkeborg - Friendlies Clubs

The history between FC Midtjylland and Silkeborg lends this Friendlies Clubs fixture an extra layer of spice, and when the two walk out at the home ground on July 4, 2026, recent encounters will be on everyone's mind. The left-back was taken off in the final minutes against Everton with cramp, and was not risked for the Champions League clash vs Sabah on Thursday.

There is little to choose between FC Midtjylland and Silkeborg on paper, and the Friendlies Clubs encounter should reflect that balance. The hosts will be looking to find their rhythm and put a run of results together. Silkeborg will travel with intent, knowing that a positive result here could kick-start their campaign. Dusan Vlahovic followed up his hat-trick on Monday by completing the comeback to leave Fenerbahce four points behind Galatasaray, who snatched a late winner at Basaksehir on Friday.

Set-piece efficiency could prove the difference on the night. Both FC Midtjylland and Silkeborg have invested time in dead-ball situations this season, and a single corner or free-kick may settle it. City also want to continue improving their attack, with a top left-winger still in the offing too.

Star players on both sides will be eager to make their mark, and the individual duels across the pitch could go a long way to deciding the outcome. How each side deals with the other's danger men — and who takes their chances when they come — will be central to the outcome. The Dutch midfielder only signed last summer but had a frustrating year under Pep Guardiola and is looking likely to leave amid interest from Nottingham Forest, Newcastle and Galatasaray.

Predicting an outright winner is no easy task given how little separates the two sides on paper. The signals point towards a stalemate, with the two sides closely matched across form and standings. A 1-1 draw is easy to envisage. The result at the home ground could resonate well beyond matchday in the Friendlies Clubs picture. Premier League chief executive Richard Masters says a verdict on the alleged charges against Manchester City "has taken longer than expected".
