Érdi VSE vs Iváncsa - Magyar Kupa

The Magyar Kupa returns to the home ground on August 21, 2026, where Érdi VSE and Iváncsa will lock horns in a contest that could shape their respective campaigns. Manchester City face the K-League All-Stars in Seoul on Wednesday as part of their pre-season tour of Asia.

Form and standings can only tell part of the story when Érdi VSE and Iváncsa cross paths in the Magyar Kupa, and pride alone should guarantee a contest. The hosts will be looking to find their rhythm and put a run of results together. The visitors will back themselves to cause problems and will not make the trip expecting an easy afternoon. The Ghana winger, signed on loan from Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise on transfer deadline day, drilled in an angled shot on the run, via the inside of the far post, for his first Derby goal.

Set-piece efficiency and transition play often decide fixtures of this nature, and both managers will have been drilling those phases on the training ground. Schalke were third bottom for possession in winning the second tier, let alone facing Bayern.

Star players on both sides will be eager to make their mark, and the individual duels across the pitch could go a long way to deciding the outcome. How each side deals with the other's danger men — and who takes their chances when they come — will be central to the outcome. Former Manchester United defender Phil Jones graduates from the PFA Business School alongside Tim Krul, Danny Simpson and Ilkay Gündogan among others.

The market has yet to form a strong view, and the contest looks genuinely difficult to call. With the sides so closely matched, a 1-1 stalemate looks the most likely way this one ends. The result at the home ground could resonate well beyond matchday in the Magyar Kupa picture. It is understood that his next move is most likely to take him abroad - and potentially to the Premier League.
