Eintracht Trier vs RB Leipzig - DFB Pokal

A fascinating DFB Pokal chapter awaits on August 22, 2026 when Eintracht Trier take on RB Leipzig at the home ground — two sides with plenty to play for and everything to prove. Rush will take over under centre for the Falcons as they prepare to face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, with the team’s quarterback situation taking an unexpected turn heading into the season opener.

A glance at the DFB Pokal table tells the story: Eintracht Trier in 60th and RB Leipzig in 4th, with positions to defend and places to climb. The hosts will be looking to find their rhythm and put a run of results together. RB Leipzig will travel with intent, knowing that a positive result here could kick-start their campaign. Leeds will not improve on their third offer but have left it on the table in case Saints reconsider their position.

Set-piece efficiency could prove the difference on the night. The fixture boasts genuine star quality. With P. Tietz topping the DFB Pokal scoring charts at 4 goals, the stage is set for the kind of individual brilliance that can swing a contest. Discipline at the back and sharpness in front of goal will likely tilt the balance one way or the other. The market has yet to form a strong view, and the contest looks genuinely difficult to call. Given the balance of the numbers, RB Leipzig look capable of springing a surprise on the road — a 1-2 away victory is a distinct possibility. With positions in the DFB Pokal table to defend and momentum to chase, neither side can afford to leave anything in the tank. All I ever wanted to do was win a championship for the New York Giants.” Beckham Jr is likely to play in the Giants’ first preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings at MetLife Stadium next weekend.
