Derby vs Valencia - Friendlies Clubs

The Friendlies Clubs returns to the home ground on July 28, 2026, where Derby and Valencia will lock horns in a contest that could shape their respective campaigns. Real have been keen to sign the Spain captain from Manchester City, but they now face competition from Barcelona for the 30-year-old, who has a year remaining on his contract at the Etihad.

Both Derby and Valencia will be eager to build momentum when they meet in Friendlies Clubs. Derby will be keen to seize the initiative and build some momentum on home soil. The visitors will back themselves to cause problems and will not make the trip expecting an easy afternoon. Those who followed Morocco's recent World Cup campaign will recognise the name Ayyoub Bouaddi.

The tactical battle could prove decisive. Derby may lean on their home advantage to dictate the tempo, but Valencia have shown they can be dangerous when allowed to play on their own terms. Man Utd are pushing higher and working harder to press and counter-press the opposition, especially to win the ball back quickly after a loss of possession.

Star players on both sides will be eager to make their mark, and the individual duels across the pitch could go a long way to deciding the outcome. Discipline at the back and sharpness in front of goal will likely tilt the balance one way or the other. Being at Eintracht Frankfurt to see that one was special as the perennial overachievers came from behind to score four second-half goals for a sensational win.

Predictions are tricky when the sides are this evenly matched, and small margins — a moment of quality, a slice of luck — could decide it either way. Expect a tight, competitive affair that could easily end all square at 1-1. With the standings tight and form on the line, this is a fixture neither side will want to lose. It is likely City adopt a more proactive pressing system higher up the pitch in order to exert territorial control on opponents.
