De Graafschap vs Telstar - Friendlies Clubs

The history between De Graafschap and Telstar lends this Friendlies Clubs fixture an extra layer of spice, and when the two walk out at the home ground on July 17, 2026, recent encounters will be on everyone's mind. Manchester United play in Gothenburg on Saturday as they take on Paris-Saint Germain in their fourth pre-season fixture.

There is little to choose between De Graafschap and Telstar on paper, and the Friendlies Clubs encounter should reflect that balance. De Graafschap will be keen to seize the initiative and build some momentum on home soil. Telstar will travel with intent, knowing that a positive result here could kick-start their campaign. Teams are more likely to allow a defender to bring the ball up the pitch than a winger playing in a far more advanced position.

The touchline duel between the two managers adds another layer of intrigue, with both likely to tweak their setups in search of a decisive edge. The Germany club were said to be looking for an out-and-out striker to allow Harry Kane to play a deeper role, and made an approach for Sesko in 2024.

Neither side is short on individuals capable of tilting the balance, and the duel between the two squads' chief creators could prove particularly pivotal. How each side deals with the other's danger men — and who takes their chances when they come — will be central to the outcome. The future of Enzo Fernandez, who has flirted with a Chelsea exit for some time now, could be decisive if they are to bring in a midfielder for big money.

With the sides closely matched, the outcome may well hinge on which team takes its chances on the day. Neither side holds a clear edge, and a 1-1 draw would be a fitting reflection of the balance between them. With positions in the Friendlies Clubs table to defend and momentum to chase, neither side can afford to leave anything in the tank. Harry Kane is the favourite to win the Ballon d’Or.
