Clydebank vs Irvine Meadow - Friendlies Clubs

Few would have predicted the narrative arc that brings Clydebank and Irvine Meadow together at the home ground on July 18, 2026, and the underdog storyline only adds to the Friendlies Clubs occasion. The 74-year-old Hoops boss admitted that "it'll be a bit strange not having the (Celtic) fans in but I'm nervously and excitedly looking forward to it; it's a great fixture" and also spoke about the police visit.

There is plenty riding on this Friendlies Clubs encounter for Clydebank and Irvine Meadow alike, and neither will want to leave the home ground empty-handed. The hosts will be looking to find their rhythm and put a run of results together. The visitors will back themselves to cause problems and will not make the trip expecting an easy afternoon. The Ghana winger, signed on loan from Belgian club Union Saint-Gilloise on transfer deadline day, drilled in an angled shot on the run, via the inside of the far post, for his first Derby goal.

How the two sides approach the contest strategically will be key. Clydebank will want to control proceedings in front of their own supporters, while Irvine Meadow will back themselves to cause problems on the break. But the Greek winger believes the mentality Arsenal are showing in pre-season is a sign they are ready to defend their crown.

The fixture is likely to be shaped by its key performers, with creative midfielders and clinical finishers on both sides capable of turning the game in an instant. Discipline at the back and sharpness in front of goal will likely tilt the balance one way or the other. Real Madrid have signed RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande in a deal worth up to £120m.

The market has yet to form a strong view, and the contest looks genuinely difficult to call. Neither side holds a clear edge, and a 1-1 draw would be a fitting reflection of the balance between them. The ramifications of this result could ripple through the Friendlies Clubs standings for weeks to come, regardless of who comes out on top. All I ever wanted to do was win a championship for the New York Giants.” Beckham Jr is likely to play in the Giants’ first preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings at MetLife Stadium next weekend.
