Cadiz vs Las Palmas - Friendlies Clubs

A fascinating Friendlies Clubs chapter awaits on August 8, 2026 when Cadiz take on Las Palmas at the home ground — two sides with plenty to play for and everything to prove. Manchester City face the K-League All-Stars in Seoul as part of their pre-season tour of Asia.

There is little to choose between Cadiz and Las Palmas on paper, and the Friendlies Clubs encounter should reflect that balance. Cadiz's recent form is difficult to quantify, but the occasion itself should bring the best out of them. Las Palmas will travel with intent, knowing that a positive result here could kick-start their campaign. The on-loan Southampton striker had scored on his debut for Auxerre in defeat last weekend but followed it up with the winning goal against Nice to earn his old boss Will Still his first points in the job.

The touchline duel between the two managers adds another layer of intrigue, with both likely to tweak their setups in search of a decisive edge. Schalke had only 17 per cent of the possession but, having visited the club to interview their charismatic coach Miron Muslic, that is hardly a surprise.

In fixtures as finely poised as this one, it often comes down to who holds their nerve in the big moments — and both camps have players who relish that responsibility. Whoever wins the individual duel between the two sides' chief playmakers is likely to dictate the rhythm and, ultimately, the destination of the points. The most obvious one is that Haaland is the best striker in the world and as promising as Sesko looks, he isn't anywhere near that level at the moment.

The market has yet to form a strong view, and the contest looks genuinely difficult to call. The signals point towards a stalemate, with the two sides closely matched across form and standings. A 1-1 draw is easy to envisage. With the standings tight and form on the line, this is a fixture neither side will want to lose. All I ever wanted to do was win a championship for the New York Giants.” Beckham Jr is likely to play in the Giants’ first preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings at MetLife Stadium next weekend.
