BVSC vs Budapest Honved - NB II

The NB II returns to the home ground on May 17, 2026, where BVSC and Budapest Honved will lock horns in a contest that could shape their respective campaigns. Michael Carrick's side are set to face Paris Saint-Germain in Sweden on Saturday afternoon with the aim of building on last weekend's win over Atletico Madrid.

There is plenty riding on this NB II encounter for BVSC and Budapest Honved alike, and neither will want to leave the home ground empty-handed. The hosts are desperate for a lift, with LWLLL in their last five and a win rate of 16.67% that underscores the size of the task facing them. Budapest Honved will travel with intent, knowing that a positive result here could kick-start their campaign. Paulo Fonseca's men are still smarting from their Champions League play-off exit but now sit third in the table.

The 29-year-old ranked 4th in strokes gained approach in 2026, and he has finished outside the top four in that specific category only once in the seven full seasons he has played on the PGA Tour.

Star players on both sides will be eager to make their mark, and the individual duels across the pitch could go a long way to deciding the outcome. Whoever wins the individual duel between the two sides' chief playmakers is likely to dictate the rhythm and, ultimately, the destination of the points. Iraola is on record as an admirer of the former Borussia Dortmund coach who honed his ideas in the Red Bull school where looking forward and pressing high up the pitch are viewed as non-negotiables.

Predicting an outright winner is no easy task given how little separates the two sides on paper. Neither side holds a clear edge, and a 1-1 draw would be a fitting reflection of the balance between them. Whatever the outcome, the NB II fixture promises a meaningful contest with real implications for both clubs.
