Boise vs Corpus Christi - USL League One

The USL League One returns to the home ground on August 2, 2026, where Boise and Corpus Christi will lock horns in a contest that could shape their respective campaigns. The 18‑year‑old midfielder featured off the bench in the Foxes’ Carabao Cup first‑round tie last weekend, but could still depart before the window closes.

Both camps will view the USL League One meeting at the home ground as an opportunity to put a marker down, regardless of where they currently stand. The hosts have been steady if unspectacular, DW in their last five reflecting a win rate of 50%. Road trips have been a source of frustration for the visitors — W in their last five, a season win rate of 30.77%. Their respective approaches this season have differed noticeably, and the tactical contrast could prove telling. Michael Carrick has spoken on why Marcus Rashford did not feature for Manchester United in the club's most recent pre-season outing.

The touchline duel between the two managers adds another layer of intrigue, with both likely to tweak their setups in search of a decisive edge. Andoni Iraola could not have been clearer about how he plans to change Liverpool when speaking in his opening press conference.

In fixtures as finely poised as this one, it often comes down to who holds their nerve in the big moments — and both camps have players who relish that responsibility. How each side deals with the other's danger men — and who takes their chances when they come — will be central to the outcome. It is claimed that Old Trafford bosses were told that the Shakhtar ace holds the 'potential to develop into a top-level centre-forward.' It was also said that Elias would slot into United's system well.

With the sides closely matched, the outcome may well hinge on which team takes its chances on the day. A share of the spoils looks the most probable outcome, with neither side holding a decisive edge — a 2-2 draw feels like a fitting result. With the standings tight and form on the line, this is a fixture neither side will want to lose. Manchester City will begin another Premier League season with major uncertainty hanging over the club after league chief executive Richard Masters admitted the long-awaited verdict on their financial case has taken longer than expected.
