AVS vs Chaves - Friendlies Clubs

When AVS and Chaves clash at the home ground on July 11, 2026, the stakes extend well beyond a single result — this is a Friendlies Clubs fixture that carries real weight for both clubs. There are just three weeks to go in the transfer window and City face more transfer questions than answers ahead of the new campaign.

There is plenty riding on this Friendlies Clubs encounter for AVS and Chaves alike, and neither will want to leave the home ground empty-handed. AVS will be keen to seize the initiative and build some momentum on home soil. The visitors will travel in the hope that a change of scene can spark a turnaround, whatever the form book says. Phil Foden was handed a free role in the No 10 position behind striker Muamba, who scored in consecutive pre-season games.

Set-piece efficiency could prove the difference on the night. Both AVS and Chaves have invested time in dead-ball situations this season, and a single corner or free-kick may settle it. His passing display at the World Cup was yet more evidence of his suitability for City and the possession-heavy style Maresca favours.

Star players on both sides will be eager to make their mark, and the individual duels across the pitch could go a long way to deciding the outcome. Discipline at the back and sharpness in front of goal will likely tilt the balance one way or the other. He is an anticipation-based defender rather than a reactive one.

The market has yet to form a strong view, and the contest looks genuinely difficult to call. Neither side holds a clear edge, and a 1-1 draw would be a fitting reflection of the balance between them. Whatever the outcome, the Friendlies Clubs fixture promises a meaningful contest with real implications for both clubs. Premier League chief executive Richard Masters says a verdict on the alleged charges against Manchester City "has taken longer than expected".
