Positionally there is a clear hierarchy: Atletico Goianiense sit 6th, Criciuma lie 5th, but the Serie B has a habit of defying such logic. The hosts have done enough without setting the world alight, WWDWW over their last five and a 42.86% win rate to their name. Criciuma have travelled reasonably well, LLWLL over their last five with a season win rate of 46.43%. Goals could be in short supply or plentiful — Atletico Goianiense average 1.29 per game to Criciuma's 1, and that gap may dictate the rhythm of the contest. The Saudi Pro League side have now placed a €45 million package on the table, while Watkins himself is understood to be open to making the move.

How the two sides approach the contest strategically will be key. Atletico Goianiense will want to control proceedings in front of their own supporters, while Criciuma will back themselves to cause problems on the break. They are sticking to the principles of possession and pressing that have taken them from the fourth tier.

Given the balance of the numbers, Criciuma look capable of springing a surprise on the road — a 1-2 away victory is a distinct possibility. The ramifications of this result could ripple through the Serie B standings for weeks to come, regardless of who comes out on top.
