ACV vs Hoogeveen - KNVB Beker

The history between ACV and Hoogeveen lends this KNVB Beker fixture an extra layer of spice, and when the two walk out at the home ground on September 22, 2026, recent encounters will be on everyone's mind. Rush will take over under centre for the Falcons as they prepare to face the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, with the team’s quarterback situation taking an unexpected turn heading into the season opener.

Form and standings can only tell part of the story when ACV and Hoogeveen cross paths in the KNVB Beker, and pride alone should guarantee a contest. ACV will be keen to seize the initiative and build some momentum on home soil. Hoogeveen will travel with intent, knowing that a positive result here could kick-start their campaign. Larson’s long-term plans have attracted renewed attention following teammate Alex Bowman’s recent announcement that he intends to retire from full-time Cup Series competition at the end of the 2027 season.

The touchline duel between the two managers adds another layer of intrigue, with both likely to tweak their setups in search of a decisive edge. Few of Bouaddi's age possess such a rare blend of physicality off the ball, and poise and balance in possession.

All eyes will be on the league's leading marksman Jesper Middelkamp, whose 1 goals this season make him the standout threat and a player capable of deciding the outcome on his own. Discipline at the back and sharpness in front of goal will likely tilt the balance one way or the other. He is an anticipation-based defender rather than a reactive one.

Predicting an outright winner is no easy task given how little separates the two sides on paper. A share of the spoils looks the most probable outcome, with neither side holding a decisive edge — a 1-1 draw feels like a fitting result. The result at the home ground could resonate well beyond matchday in the KNVB Beker picture. Premier League chief executive Richard Masters says a verdict on the alleged charges against Manchester City "has taken longer than expected".
