Abahani vs Chattogram - Federation Cup

A fascinating Federation Cup chapter awaits on September 22, 2026 when Abahani take on Chattogram at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium — two sides with plenty to play for and everything to prove. LIV Golf definitely changed the face of the professional game with the extortionate amounts of money that they pumped into the league.

Both camps will view the Federation Cup meeting at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium as an opportunity to put a marker down, regardless of where they currently stand. Abahani's recent form is difficult to quantify, but the occasion itself should bring the best out of them. The visitors will back themselves to cause problems and will not make the trip expecting an easy afternoon. Man Utd have still accumulated the most points across the league since his return in January.

Stylistically, this is a compelling matchup. Abahani favour a patient, possession-based approach, whereas Chattogram are at their most dangerous when allowed to hit quickly on the counter. Andoni Iraola could not have been clearer about how he plans to change Liverpool when speaking in his opening press conference.

The fixture is likely to be shaped by its key performers, with creative midfielders and clinical finishers on both sides capable of turning the game in an instant. Set-piece specialists and aerial threats on both sides mean dead-ball situations could carry outsized importance. Real Madrid have signed RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande in a deal worth up to £120m.

Predictions are tricky when the sides are this evenly matched, and small margins — a moment of quality, a slice of luck — could decide it either way. A share of the spoils looks the most probable outcome, with neither side holding a decisive edge — a 1-1 draw feels like a fitting result. The result at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium could resonate well beyond matchday in the Federation Cup picture. Harry Kane is the favourite to win the Ballon d’Or.
