Sanfrecce Hiroshima vs Paks - Friendlies Clubs

All eyes turn to the home ground on July 16, 2026 as Sanfrecce Hiroshima welcome Paks in a Friendlies Clubs encounter that promises tension, intrigue and no shortage of subplot. Manchester City face the K-League All-Stars in Seoul on Wednesday as part of their pre-season tour of Asia.

Both camps will view the Friendlies Clubs meeting at the home ground as an opportunity to put a marker down, regardless of where they currently stand. The hosts will be looking to find their rhythm and put a run of results together. The visitors will travel in the hope that a change of scene can spark a turnaround, whatever the form book says. Throughout the game, Arsenal showed really hesitant defending which is so far from their dominant confidence of recent years.Arsenal exposed by superb BrightonDeclan Rice of Arsenal after defeat to Brighton.

The tactical subplot is compelling: Sanfrecce Hiroshima favour a possession-based game built on patience and control, while Paks are happiest sitting deep and exploding forward on the counter — a classic contrast of philosophies. In possession, Silva has the confidence to play forwards rather than simply recycling possession.

Game-changers are scattered across both line-ups, and the contest may well be decided by which side's match-winners deliver on the day. Discipline at the back and sharpness in front of goal will likely tilt the balance one way or the other. Their 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Super Cup featured breakout performances by 17-year-old striker Brian Madjo striker on debut and 19-year-old winger George Hemmings.

The market has yet to form a strong view, and the contest looks genuinely difficult to call. Neither side holds a clear edge, and a 1-1 draw would be a fitting reflection of the balance between them. The result at the home ground could resonate well beyond matchday in the Friendlies Clubs picture. Premier League chief executive Richard Masters says a verdict on the alleged charges against Manchester City "has taken longer than expected".
