Picuiense vs Santa Rita - Paraibano 2

The Paraibano 2 returns to the home ground on October 3, 2026, where Picuiense and Santa Rita will lock horns in a contest that could shape their respective campaigns. Real have been keen to sign the Spain captain from Manchester City, but they now face competition from Barcelona for the 30-year-old, who has a year remaining on his contract at the Etihad.

Both Picuiense and Santa Rita will be eager to build momentum when they meet in Paraibano 2. The hosts will be looking to find their rhythm and put a run of results together. The visitors will travel in the hope that a change of scene can spark a turnaround, whatever the form book says. The tactical battle could prove decisive. Picuiense may lean on their home advantage to dictate the tempo, but Santa Rita have shown they can be dangerous when allowed to play on their own terms. The fixture is likely to be shaped by its key performers, with creative midfielders and clinical finishers on both sides capable of turning the game in an instant. Set-piece specialists and aerial threats on both sides mean dead-ball situations could carry outsized importance. However, at 24, there should still be considerable room for development.More importantly, Newcastle need a midfielder capable of contributing immediately.

Predicting an outright winner is no easy task given how little separates the two sides on paper. A share of the spoils looks the most probable outcome, with neither side holding a decisive edge — a 1-1 draw feels like a fitting result. With positions in the Paraibano 2 table to defend and momentum to chase, neither side can afford to leave anything in the tank. The 22-year-old was likely quite high up on the list of United's midfield targets and potentially even higher after Aurelien Tchouameni and Eduardo Camavinga blows.
