Araxá vs Funorte - Mineiro - 3

All eyes turn to the home ground on October 17, 2026 as Araxá welcome Funorte in a Mineiro - 3 encounter that promises tension, intrigue and no shortage of subplot. Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai remains a doubt for Wednesday’s Champions League encounter against LASK.

Both Araxá and Funorte will be eager to build momentum when they meet in Mineiro - 3. The hosts will be looking to find their rhythm and put a run of results together. The visitors will back themselves to cause problems and will not make the trip expecting an easy afternoon. The fact that Oxford ultimately fell five points short of the total needed to stay in the Championship shows that it would have required top-half - almost play-off - form during the second half of the season.

Stylistically, this is a compelling matchup. Araxá favour a patient, possession-based approach, whereas Funorte are at their most dangerous when allowed to hit quickly on the counter. Their press is quick and co-ordinated in some areas of the pitch and not others.

Game-changers are scattered across both line-ups, and the contest may well be decided by which side's match-winners deliver on the day. Set-piece specialists and aerial threats on both sides mean dead-ball situations could carry outsized importance. Baleba made it clear that he wanted to sign last summer, but Brighton valued the midfielder in excess of £100m, which was not a realistic fee for United in a window when other areas needed to be prioritised.

Predictions are tricky when the sides are this evenly matched, and small margins — a moment of quality, a slice of luck — could decide it either way. The signals point towards a stalemate, with the two sides closely matched across form and standings. A 1-1 draw is easy to envisage. With the standings tight and form on the line, this is a fixture neither side will want to lose. Manchester City will begin another Premier League season with major uncertainty hanging over the club after league chief executive Richard Masters admitted the long-awaited verdict on their financial case has taken longer than expected.
